Description: | Some POP3 clients can appear to be quite slow, possibly because they are on slow or congested networks, or because of high CPU load. This option allows you to define the amount of time that the local POP3 server will wait for a command to be received from a POP3 client after a TCP connection has been established. If no command is received and a timeout occurs, the connection is dropped. |
Values: | 0 seconds - 9999 weeks |
Default: | 1 (minute) |
Notes: | If you have many POP3 users who connect from remote, you may wish to increase this option to accommodate them. If you do not have many remote or dial-up users but still receive complaints about the POP server timing out, you may wish to use a faster system for the POP3 server. For more information about the POP3 protocol and commands, refer to section D.3 Post Office Protocol v3 (POP3). |
