This appendix provides a detailed explanation of the HOSTS files and the Domain Name System (DNS) name resolution services used by most TCP/IP products.
This appendix should be read by anyone responsible for the successful operation of a TCP/IP network, or anyone connecting their organization to the global Internet. It should also be ready by anyone who is installing TCP/IP for the first or second time.
