There are a variety of timeout values that you can control for the SMTP server. These options are listed in Figure 6.34 below along with references to the detailed sections that cover the options.

Each of these options refer to a specific portion of the SMTP transaction, and have different impacts when they are modified.
WARNING: Before changing any of the connection timeout options, you should discuss the ramifications with Unoverica's technical support. You may cause more problems than you solve by setting these options to excessively low or excessively high values.
These options are configurable through the use of Unoverica Message Transport's UCMCON.NLM management tool. To load UCMCON, type the following command at the NetWare console prompt:
:LOAD UCMCON <Enter>
You will be presented with a screen similar to the one shown in Figure 6.35 below:

Select the "Configuration" menu item and press <Enter>. You will then be presented with a set of configuration menu choices similar to the one shown in Figure 6.36 below:

Select the "Options" menu option and press <Enter>. You will then be presented with a list of the currently defined options, similar to the one shown in Figure 6.37 below:

To adjust the timeout you wish to modify, select the appropriate option and press <Enter>. You can increase or decrease the number as needed, and can also change the time unit. The supported time units available are seconds, minutes, hours, days, and weeks.
WARNING: You should not set these option values to excessively low or high amounts.
