Most mail messages are quite small, consuming only a few kilobytes of disk space, although messages with multiple-megabyte attachments are also likely on an infrequent basis. If your users will be receiving 20 or so messages per day, then you can plan on processing approximately a megabyte of mail per-user, per-day on average. However, there are times when the mail will exceed this estimate dramatically, so you should plan on the worst-case scenario, which may be 20 or more megabytes per-user.
