2.1 Configuring TCP/IP

There are four basic steps required to get Novell’s TCP/IP protocol suite installed and operational on a NetWare server:

  1. Verify that all of the required patches and updates are installed on the NetWare server. For more information on these required patches and updates, refer to Chapter 1: Preparing for Installation. If the system you plan to use for Unoverica Message Transport does not meet the requirements detailed in Chapter 1, Unoverica Message Transport will not function properly.

  2. Determine the network adapter, IP address, and other details to use for this serverFor more information on these subjects, refer to section 2.2 Preparing to Configure TCP/IP.

  3. Load the TCP/IP protocol stack, and bind it to the server’s network adapter. For more information on this process, refer to section 2.3 Configuring and Starting TCP/IP.

  4. Add the server to the local naming services in use on your network. For more information on this subject, refer to section 2.4 Updating the Naming Services.

Once the TCP/IP stack has been configured, bound and started, refer to Appendix H: Troubleshooting for instructions on how to verify that the protocol is functioning properly.

STEP: To continue to the next step in the configuration process, go to section 2.2 Preparing to Configure TCP/IP.
