Chapter 2: Configuring TCP/IP
2.2 Preparing to Configure TCP/IP
There are several pieces of information required before you can successfully configuring and load the TCP/IP protocols on your NetWare server. Specifically, the three types of information are:
- Network adapter and LAN driver details. This includes the hardware settings for the network adapter, the physical medium in use, the appropriate frame type for that medium, and other related details. For more information on this subject, refer to section 2.2.2 Determine the LAN Driver Information.
- IP address, subnet mask, routing protocol, and other IP-specific details. For more information on this subject, refer to section 2.2.3 Determine the IP Protocol Information.
- The naming services in use on your network, and their associated details. For more information on this subject, refer to section 2.2.4 Determine the Naming Service Information.
A configuration worksheet is provided in section 2.2.1 Using the Configuration Worksheet to assist you in gathering and recording this information.
STEP: To continue to the next step in the configuration process, go to section 2.2.1 Using the Configuration Worksheet.
