Your screen may contain additional protocols, depending upon the additional communications products you have installed on your system.

If "TCP/IP" does not appear in the list of protocols, then you will need to manually configure and load the LAN drivers and TCP/IP protocols. Press <Esc> to close the "Protocol Configuration" window, and the press <Esc> again to return to the NetWare console prompt. Skip to section 2.3.2 Using Console Commands and load the LAN drivers and TCP/IP protocol manually.

If "TCP/IP" appears in the list of protocols, select that menu item and press <Enter>. You will be presented with a screen similar to the following:

NOTE: Do not enable any options or change any settings beyond those specified here unless you are explicitly requested to do so by a recognized network authority, such as another system administrator at your site, a trusted consultant, or your Internet Service Provider.

The following steps configure the overall TCP/IP protocol environment:

  1. The first thing you need to do is enable the TCP/IP protocol on this system. Select the "TCP/IP Status" menu option, press <Enter>, select the "Enabled" option and press <Enter> again.

  2. If your worksheet indicates that you are using RIP, OSPF or static routing, then enable whichever of those routing services you have selected in the worksheet.

STEP: To continue to the next step in the configuration process, go to section 2.3.1.3 Add a Default Route.
