2.4.2 Update the DNS Server Databases

If you are using DNS on your network or if you are connected to the global Internet, then you should add this host to the DNS server responsible for your network. You should also configure this system so that it can issue queries to these same DNS servers.

Since a wide variety of DNS servers run on an equally wide variety of platforms, it is impossible to describe how to add a system to your DNS server with any measure of accuracy. You should contact the system administrator, consultant, or service provider responsible for managing the DNS servers for your network, and provide them with the IP address and hostname of the system you just configured. They should be able to add the information to the DNS server quickly.
