3.1 Installing and Starting Unoverica Message Transport

There are five basic steps required to get Unoverica Message Transport installed and operational on a NetWare server. These steps are:

  1. Ensure that all system patches and updates are installed. Even if you do not think that you need to apply any of these updates, you should verify this prior to beginning the Unoverica Message Transport installation. If the system you plan on using does not meet the minimum requirements, the software will not function as expected. For more information on the minimum system requirements, refer to Chapter 1: Preparing for Installation.

  2. Verify that TCP/IP has been installed and is functioning correctly. For more information on how to configure Novell’s TCP/IP protocols on a NetWare server, refer to Chapter 2: Configuring TCP/IP.

  3. Update the NetWare SERVICES file, and also update the local DNS server to ensure that SMTP mail is routed properly to this system. For more information on these subjects, refer to section 3.2 Pre-Installation.

  4. Install Unoverica Message Transport. For instructions on this procedure, refer to section 3.3 Installing Unoverica Message Transport.

  5. Start the Unoverica Message Transport. For more information on this subject, refer to section 3.4 Starting and Stopping Unoverica Message Transport.

STEP: Once you have verified that steps 1 and 2 above have been completed, go to section 3.2 Pre-Installation Tasks.
