Chapter 6: Advanced Configuration Options
6.3 Managing the Queue Directories
By default, Unoverica Message Transport creates a directory tree on the SYS: volume containing the executables, configuration files, and mail queues. This directory tree is detailed in section 3.3.3.2 Installed Software and Directories. You can manage this directory tree, to a minor extent. The following options are available to you:
- Move the queue directories. Although the SYS:/USR directory tree cannot be relocated, you can move the SYS:/USR/SPOOL/MAIL and SYS:/USR/SPOOL/MQUEUE directories to another volume or directory tree if you wish. For information on how to relocate these directories, refer to section 6.3.1 Relocating the POP3 and SMTP Mail Directories.
- Eliminate end-user access to the queue directories. You should only allow supervisor access to the queue directories, since they may be deleted or corrupted by end-users. For more information on this subject, refer to section 6.3.2 Restricting Access to the POP3 and SMTP Mail Directories.
- Enable the PURGE IMMEDIATE flags. You may wish to set the NetWare PURGE IMMEDIATE attribute on these directories to minimize the memory impact of the server having to track all of the deleted temporary files. For more information on how to set this attribute, refer to section 6.3.3 Enabling PURGE IMMEDIATE on the POP3 and SMTP Mail Directories.
STEP: Choose one of the configuration scenarios described above, and then go to section 6.3.1 Relocating the POP3 and SMTP Mail Directories, section 6.3.2 Restricting Access to the POP3 and SMTP Mail Directories, or section 6.3.3 Enabling PURGE IMMEDIATE on the POP3 and SMTP Mail Directories.
