G.2 Choosing a Directory Provider

If your site consists of a single NetWare server, and all of the users on that server will have access to electronic mail using the default domain, then you probably do not need to use Unoverica Message Transport’s internal directory. Likewise, if you have a small NDS tree and all users will use the default domain, then you probably do not need to use Unoverica Message Transport’s internal directory.

However, if you need to support remote users or multiple domains, or if you need to manage mail account details, then you will probably need to use Unoverica Message Transport’s directory for some, if not all, of your user account administration.

NOTE: These options are mutually exclusive. You cannot use NetWare accounts for some users and Unoverica Message Transport’s directory for other users. If you decide to make the Unoverica Message Transport directory the primary point of management, either because you want the advanced configuration options or you require better integration with NDS, then you must manage ALL of your mail users through Unoverica Message Transport’s internal directory.

NOTE: This does not apply to the alias accounts, which are separate entities from the user accounts. Aliases are always available, regardless of where the user accounts are stored.
