Update Installation Guide

Overview

The following is a guide to updating from prior versions of Unoverica Message Transport to Unoverica Mail 3.00.

Procedure

1. Download Files:

a. If you already have a permanent key to run Unoverica Mail Version 3.00, then download Unoverica Mail Version 3.00. Note: Permanent keys for Unoverica Message Transport Version 2.xx will NOT work for Unoverica Mail Version 3.00. If you don't have a permanent key for Unoverica Mail Version 3.00, you must order a permanent key for Unoverica Mail 3.00. While you are waiting to get your permanent key, you can get a trial key for Unoverica Mail Version 3.00.

b. If you are running Unoverica Domain Name System (DNS) on the same server, then download Unoverica DNS - Version 1.50. Note: Using Unoverica Mail 3.00 with versions of Unoverica DNS prior to Version 1.50 is NOT supported. Your existing key will work.

2. Use UCMCON to export the Unoverica Directory:

At the console prompt, type:

:LOAD UCMCON

From the Main Menu menu, select Configuration. From the Configuration Menu menu, select Directory. From the Directory Menu menu, select Export. Press <ESC>, and select Yes to perform the export. Press <ESCAPE> three times, and select Yes to exit UCMCON.

3. Stop all Unoverica products:

At the console prompt, type:

:UCMSTOP

If you are using Unoverica Domain Name System, also type:

:UCDSTOP

4. Prepare system for installation:

a. Check your BTRIEVE Configuration using the BTRIEVE Configuration Guide.

b. Only if you were previously running any beta version of Unoverica Message Transport (Versions 2.99 through 2.99f, but not 2.99g), Delete the file DIRECTRY.BTR in the directory SYS:\USR\LIB\MAIL.

5. Install the update:

Follow the instructions in Chapter 3 of the Unoverica Mail Documentation. If you downloaded Unoverica DNS Version 1.50 in step 1b, install it at this time.

6. Optionally use UCMCON to import the Unoverica Directory:

Only if you deleted DIRECTRY.BTR in step 4b above, at the console prompt, type:

:LOAD UCMCON

From the Main Menu menu, select Configuration. From the Configuration Menu menu, select Directory. From the Directory Menu menu, select Import. Change the Import Mode to Replace. Press <ESC>, and select Yes to perform the import. Press <ESCAPE> three times, and select Yes to exit UCMCON.

You are now ready to use Unoverica Mail 3.00.
